NEWINGTON SKI CLUB MINUTES
October 5, 2017
Indian Hill Country Club
Meeting was called to order by President Jon Putnam at 7:38pm.
Jon thanked our Bartender Dave. There are free tickets available for the Travel Show on October 21, 2017, Connecticut Convention Center, Hartford.

Secretary’s Report: Last meetings minutes were accepted with the correction that 40 memberships were reported, not 40 members as in the minutes.

Membership: Marilyn Pearson reported as of 9/29/17 we have 138 members. Income from membership is $2601.40. We also have several new members. Lifetime members- please register on-line. See Marilyn to pick up your stickers.

Bulk Tickets: Tonight is the last night to submit your order to the Coordinators as payment is due to the CSC. There are less Bulk Ticket orders this year for all the areas. Jon Putnam will coordinate the orders and get the check for the club purchase.

Open House Meeting: Will be here at Indian Hill Country Club on November 30, 2017. There was discussion about doing the meeting on Nov.16th instead, but it was decided to keep it as the 30th.Ted Rogala and Marilyn Pearson are working out the details. Joel Witkiewicz and Jim Carle will help Ted and Marilyn.
Snow Ball: November 18, 2017, Hartford/Windsor Marriott. See Ambassador Mike Brown for tickets. $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Eight to the Bar is the band. Mike has a lot of raffle prizes so far. . We are sharing the Hospitality Suite with CAST Ski club.

On Snow: March 2-4th 2018 at Okemo. Ron Kapraszewski is looking into lodging. Our club is responsible for running the racing this year.

Warren Miller Film: November 3, 2017. See Jon Putnam if interested in going and maybe tailgate before the show..
Ski and Travel Show: October 21, 2017.Ct Convention Center. Jon Putnam has free tickets.

Pete Noyes Memorial Hike: November 11, 2017. Hike and tailgate.

Manchester Road Race: November 23, 2017 Rusty Cushman has the race info , meet afterwards to tailgate/socialize. Meet at the Army Navy center by the finish line. Race starts at 10am, you should be there at 9am.

Christmas Party: December 9,2017. Indian Hill Country Club. Upstairs in the banquet room. Cost will be $30-$35. Choice of Beef, Chicken or Fish. Will plan to do a grab bag , maybe a White Elephant swap. Bring your holiday decorations.

Monday Night Racing: Last year the club reimbursed all members that raced $15/race. This year there may be a minimum # of race participation for reimbursement. The club has allowed money in the budget, but how much reimbursement per race is to be determined.

Soup, Stew and Chili Night: February 15,2018 at Indian Hill CC. We can bring in food, but cannot purchase food off the menu that night due to regulations.

Senior Games: February 27,2018 at Sundown.

Club Day: At Okemo on the Nastar course. maybe on an Awareness Day. Date TBD.

Big Sky Trip: March 6-13, 2018.See John Hunter. Spots being held will be released by Nov.1st.As of today 30 are signed up.

Old Business: We are looking to update the NSC Constitution.
The November 16th meeting may be cancelled as we are meeting on November 30th for the Open House Meeting. We will determine that as we get closer to the date.

New Business
:
Lorraine Hughes has a $300 cash amount donated by member Lily Hill for Junior Members who want to take ski lessons before participating in On Snow. Lily has also donated a NSC bike jersey for tonight’s raffle. Lorraine also donated to Jon a mallet that was Charlie’s for meetings. Lorraine presented Lily with a Mini Mouse glass to recognize her 60 years in the club.

Skik swaps this weekend- Suburban Sports, Bob’s Ski Chalet and Alpine Haus.

Southern Connecticut University ski movie show is November 10th.

CSC is looking for volunteers to help out at their table (if they have one) at the CT. Travel show.

Looking for volunteers to take over the Ski Club Newsletter. It was discussed to maybe do E-blasts instead due to lack of content submitted , as most club info is on the website. It was discussed to check into distributing the CSC Newsletters to our members by email.

World Cup Races are scheduled at Killington again, see their website for tickets and details. You can also ski that day. There is also a 2 for 1 Killington ticket special somewhere on the internet that needs to be used before 12/1/17.

50/50 raffle- Bruce Laroche won $16.

NSC Bike Jersey donated by Lily Hill was won by Lisa Day.
