NEWINGTON SKI CLUB MINUTES
November 16, 2017

Indian Hill Country Club

Meeting was called to order by President Jon Putnam at 7:45 pm.

Secretary’s Report: Last meetings minutes were accepted.

Membership: Marilyn Pearson reported we have collected $5065.33 to date. The Membership sign ups have been active this past week. Total memberships to date are at 144. This includes 31 individual, 41 retirees, 49 Family,10 College, and 13 Lifetime. Please go to the website to sign up through the link to ZAP. Please sign up on-line to make things easier. See Marilyn for stickers. Ideas were discussed on how to attract new members. Marilyn will post a Flyer at Indian Hill CC. as interest has been expressed from the employees. If you have any ideas, please share, membership has been down across the board for other clubs. Social media ideas were discussed, Facebook, Instagram which appeals to the younger group. Next year we will re-classify Retiree/Senior membership as it’s not clear with the way category is listed. Marilyn will reach out to the Lifetime members. There are 30-40 Lifetime members.

Snow Ball: November 18, 2017, Hartford/Windsor Marriott. See Ambassador Mike Brown. Advanced tickets have been turned in, you can still buy at the door for $25. We are sharing the Hospitality Suite room with CAST Ski club and A&E. Bring food to share and BYOB for the room. 28 tickets were sold. There will be lots of raffle prizes. Mike will pick up plates, cups and napkins

Open House Meeting: November 30, 2017 at 7pm – will be here at Indian Hill Country Club upstairs in the larger room. Set up will be at 6pm.Joe Machowski will supply balloons. The Open House Meeting committee is working on the event details. NSC will purchase some appetizers/finger food that night. There cannot be any food brought in by members. There will be food to purchase and the bar will be open. Joel Witkiewicz has some ski area tickets for raffle prizes. The raffle will be scaled down. Suburban, Ski Sundown, Powder Ridge, Mt. Southington, and Mohawk will be attending.

Christmas/Holiday Party: December 9,2017. 6:30pm drinks, 7:00 dinner. Indian Hill Country Club. Upstairs in the banquet room. Cost will be $30. Choice of Beef, Chicken or Fish. There will be a white elephant Grab Bag Swap. The party flyer is posted on the website, send checks to Ted Rogala. Please let Ted know you are coming asap to get an idea on the number attending. So far 22 are signed up.

Monday Night Racing: December 18th, Registration Party. Pre-register for racing that night. Free Pizza at Mount Southington.1st Monday Night race is scheduled for January 8,2018. There will be no makeup. The bar has a new manager- our member Jeremy. Mt. Southington plans on doing the bar area over next summer.

Soup, Stew and Chili Night: February 15,2018 at Indian Hill CC. We can bring in food, but cannot purchase food off the menu that night due to regulations. Cash Bar for drinks. A sub-committee needs to be formed to work out details. We will invite Mt. Laurel members to the event.

Club Day: Okemo.Sunday, January 7, 2018. 10am. It’s a Council Awareness Day. John Hunter has arranged with Okemo and will plan a get together later in the afternoon for drinks and food.

Senior Games: February 27,2018 at Sundown. Fun Day. See Carol Sweeney for more information.

On Snow: March 2-4th 2018 at Okemo.See Ron Kapraszewski , need volunteers as we are running the racing on Saturday. Super G will be on Chief and GS will be on Wardance.

Big Sky Trip: March 6-13, 2018.See John Hunter. There is room for 6 more.

CSC Awareness Days: There have been some changes, The Awareness Days at Stowe have been replaced by other mountains. See the CSC website for up to date information.

Pete Noyes Memorial Hike: Pictures were posted.

New Business:

Lorraine Hughes has information on a Soup and Sip fundraiser on December 9th.

Indian Hill Country Club is doing a Gingerbread House event on December 10th, cost is $15.Inculdes the kit, instruction and hot cocoa.

See NSC website, Paul Yuskales has recently posted a mountain bike ride( last weekend) and a hike is planned for this Sunday at Bear Mountain.

The NSC Constitution has been reviewed and brought up to date by the Board of Directors and is posted on the website. The new version will be brought to a meeting to vote on to adopt at a future meeting.

You can see Bulk ticket Coordinators for tickets tonight, Northern areas, Okemo and Mt Snow are ready for distribution.

Mt. Snow special online only $12 for ticket on Dec 12th. Must get ticket on-line before.

World Cup racing will again be held at Killington Thanksgiving weekend.

Next meetings- Nov 30 (Open House), Dec. 7, Dec. 21st.
