NSC Meeting Minutes 10-20-16
NEWINGTON SKI CLUB MINUTES
October 20, 2016
Meeting was called to order by President Jon Putnam at 7:45. Reminder to sign in at the bar if you are ordering a drink.
Minutes: previous meeting minutes were accepted. All meeting minutes are on the NSC web site.
Meeting sites: the 1st and 3rd of each month the meetings will be held at the PAC, the 4th of each month, subject to change due to holidays, there will be a Happy Hour get-together at Bertucci’s on the Berlin Turnpike in Newington. Starts at 6:30, will be informal, but may include any necessary business. Rusty will send a blast to the membership as a reminder.
Membership: Jon will meet with Dan and Jim. Stickers for 2016-2017 will be available at the Open House, then will be mailed afterward if not picked up at the Open House on Nov 18. Current registrations total 102, with 220 members so far. Discounted membership ends on 11/18/16.
Bulk Tickets: The club was short on money for Sunapee tickets, will be checking with Adela. Costco is selling Killington tickets – 3 for $199.
Open House: November 18. Rusty is updating the flyer and looking for the contacts to send a letter asking for donations for raffle prizes. He’ll ask Neil to be our DJ for the night. Rusty is looking for people to contribute baked goods, deserts. Bob Lanosa will do the hot dogs again this year! The Open House theme is “Mitten Madness.”
Snow Ball: November 12 at the Hartford Marriott in Windsor. Jeff collected $1200 worth of raffle prizes and sold 30+ tickets. We are sharing the Hospitality Suite with CAST and Manchester Ski Clubs. Joe Machowski is still looking for volunteers to help with decorating. He is organizing the putting together of the decorations at Joanie Noyes’ house on November 10, at 6:30 pm. Joe also needs help at the hotel the night of the Snow Ball, so get there early if you want to help decorate.
On Snow: March 2-4 at Loon Mountain, NH. Ron tells us that lodging is available on a first come, first served basis, at the Kancamangus Lodge in NH. Various room types are available, but a limited number of rooms are being held. Call the Lodge at 800-346-4205 to make your reservations.
Ski Racing: the first night of racing is scheduled for December 19, at Mt. Southington, snow permitting.If no snow, Mt Southington will host a pre-registration night with pizza.
Treasurer’s Report: Carol reported $2972.78 in the checking account and $1054.40 in the savings account.
Christmas Party: Ted has arranged the party on December 9, at J. Timothy in Plainville. The cost is $30 per person with a Chinese Raffle. Contact Ted Rogala for more details or to sign up.
Awareness Days: Changes are being made for December dates. Check the NSC web site for details.
Club Race: Glen is looking into Magic Mt. under new ownership. More to follow.
Greenway: John Paturel reported that the group was derailed in NC due to the hurricane. The riders did 200 miles in 4 days and will pick up where they left off next year.

50/50 Raffle: Carol Vojtilla won $10.50, meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm.
