Monday Night Ski Races

Racing is an important part of skiing.  Many of the members compete within the Council for personal enjoyment, competition and the fun of being with fellow skiers on Monday Nights and at the State Races.

Monday Night races are the council team races.  Each Monday starting in December, weather permitting, Newington Ski Club racers race at Mount Southington.  Individual races are by age group and points are awarded within your age group and count towards season trophies.  Those points also count towards the Club Points.  All Newington Ski Club members are encouraged to race.  Anyone not wishing to race are always encouraged to show up anyway and cheer on the racers.  After the races, club members usually gather for some pizza and drinks in the base lodge.

The Newington Ski Club also participates in other Connecticut Ski Council races during the season, including the always popular On Snow Weekend (during which the State Downhill, Snowboard and Cross Country Races will occur) which will be at Okemo this year.
