Rules of Monday Night Racing

Mt. Southington/CSC Race Waiver

Click here! – Important CSC Waiver Information

Fees

Will be announced at the beginning of the season. Fees will include lift ticket, and racing fee. Season pass holders will only be required to pay race fee.

Each Council club shall receive a bill for racing dues at the beginning of each race season. A new club not having raced before has a $25 initial fee due to the CSC. Club members will not be able to race if their club’s racing dues or council racing dues are not paid.

Registration

6:00 to 7:00 pm, race starts at 7:45
Group lessons start at 7:00 pm (1 ½ hour lesson)

Each year, every racer must sign a waiver to race. A bib is handed out each week, and money must be paid at the time of receiving the bib. Registration/Signup will close at 7:30 pm. A number will be drawn for each starting series. Refer to the running order.

The ski area will make the determination whether the race hill has safe conditions by 2:00 pm on the day of the race. Racers should call Mt Southington for race status. The call number is on the Mt Southington web page or on the CSC racing page. Neither Mt Southington, the Connecticut Ski Council, nor its member clubs assume the responsibility for judging the safety of the driving conditions for each race. Each individual must make their own determination as to the safety of the road conditions and assumes all responsibility for their own safety.
FIS racing rules apply to the CSC Monday Night Races with the exception of a racer who loses a ski before the first gate. If a racer looses a ski prior to the first gate, they are entitled to a restart.

Reruns

If a racer feels he/she has been interfered with during their run, he/she must ski out of the course immediately if they wish to be granted a rerun. After exiting the course, the racer should immediately check with their team captain in order to request a provisional rerun. If such a run is granted, the racer’s time will not be publicly recorded on the posted score sheet. The decision on whether to allow or disallow the rerun will be decided by vote at a team captain’s meeting immediately following the race. If it is decided to let the rerun stand, the time will then be made known and dully recorded.

Eligibility

Any CSC ski club member 18 years or older as of December 31 of the racing year, and in good Club standing can participate in the Monday Night League. The Ski Club must be a member of the CSC and have paid their entry fee (as determined by the Council Treasurer, based on the total number of racer starts in the previous year or a minimum of $25) to the CSC Treasurer.

Individuals may only race for one club during the season.

Running Order

Sign up will close at 7:30 pm. A number will be drawn for each starting race course. The number(s) pulled will be the first racer down the course and racers will run in sequence, until the last numbers, and then the first number in the sequence will followed. The picked numbers will be posted at the base of the race hill. Once through completely on the first run, the second run will follow immediately after. Once a racer has completed a run (and not disqualified), he/she may choose to not run the second run with no penalties. The best of 2 runs win.
