NEWINGTON SKI CLUB MINUTES
February 2, 2017

Meeting was called to order by President Jon Putnam at 7:45pm.

Reminder to sign the book in the bar when ordering drinks.

Secretary’s Report: Accepted.

Membership: about 3 memberships a week coming in now. Close to $9,000 in membership income to date. Expect a few more members to join before On Snow.

Monday Night Racing: We are close, but still behind Mountain Laurel Ski Club by about 17 points, need more racers, especially women. Marilyn Pearson will send out an e-blast. Hoping to get as many racers out as possible next week

CSC CT Senior Games: February 14, 2017 at Ski Sundown, Carol Sweeney has sign up papers. Nice luncheon as part of the event.

Soup Stew and Chili Night: Thursday February 16, 2017. Need help early at 6pm, starts at 6:30. Sign up sheet going around.

Club Race Day: Magic Mountain February 18, 2017. $50( payable to NSC) includes racing fee and lunch. Registration 8-8:30. See Glenn Johnson to sign up. Bands starting at 3pm and a fundraiser event later, some members are staying overnight to enjoy the evening.

On Snow: March 2-4, 2017 at Loon Mountain, NH. Ron Kapraszewski reported he and Rob Dexter visited and skied Loon this week and the racing should be outstanding. Good lift access. Cross Country is not too far from Loon, but no rentals available. See Bruce Laroche to sign up and to pay for dinner Saturday night, $ is due Feb 14th.

Sugarloaf Ski Trip : March 12, 2017-March 17, 2017

Tuckerman’s Ravine NSC: April 1, 2017. Jon Putnam is organizing a ski weekend. Jon will do a Tuckerman’s presentation at a future meeting.

Bulk Tickets: The club has 1 Sunapee Jr or super Sr, 4 Okemo super Sr, and 12 Mt. Snow tickets available. Ted Rogala has 4 Okemo tickets to sell.

Old BusinessMarch 2, 2017 Ski club meeting is cancelled as most will be at On-Snow.

New Business: April 28, 2017, 6:30-7:00 pm Friday-Spring Banquet will be at Dakota’s Steakhouse, Rocky Hill.$30.00 No need to pre-order, will be 4 choices. Carol Sweeney is organizing.

Pete Noyes Scholarship benefit drawing for the quilt and the McCostis fundraising event will be February 18, 2017-Willie Dunns at Okemo. See Lorraine Hughes or Joan Noyes for details, $25 is the cost to attend.

Marilyn Pearson reported good cross country ski conditions at Trapp and Stowe last weekend.

John Paturel offered his house for Feb 18th events.

Meetings:

Feb 16th, March 16th, April 6th, April 20th at Polish American Club

Social meetings at Bertucci’s in Newington- Feb 23 and March 23.

Pam Batemen reported bulk ticket return date is May 1, 2017.

Nominating Committee will be organized for next year’s slate.

50/50 Raffle: Marilyn Pearson won $9.00, meeting was adjourned at 9:00 pm.
