NEWINGTON SKI CLUB MINUTES
December 7, 2017
Indian Hill Country Club
19 were in attendance at the start of the meeting.
Meeting was called to order by President Jon Putnam at 7:34pm.
Jon shared the poster he made up for the Open House to use for future meetings/events. If anyone would like to borrow it to post to market the Club, see Jon. Thank you to Joel Witkiewicz, Ted Rogala, Marilyn Pearson and all the volunteers that helped to make the Open House a success. Neal Fisher did a great job with the music. Joe Machowski donated the balloons which looked great.$350 was brought in by the raffle to offset the costs of the evening.
Secretary’s Report: Last meetings minutes were accepted.
Membership: Marilyn Pearson reported we have collected $6300 to date. The club has approx. 350 individual members to date. Stickers that have not been picked up will be mailed out tonight. Please help after the meeting to stuff envelopes .In order to pick up your bulk tickets you must be a member.
Christmas/Holiday Party: December 9,2017. 6:30pm drinks, 7:00 dinner. Indian Hill Country Club. Upstairs in the banquet room. Cost will be $30. Choice of Beef, Chicken or Fish. There will be a white elephant Grab Bag Swap. So far 34 are signed up.
Monday Night Racing: December 18th, Registration Party. Pre-register for racing that night. Free Pizza at Mount Southington.1st Monday Night race is scheduled for January 8,2018. The age groups will be the same as last year. Mt. Southington has new snowmaking equipment.
Ski Area Pins : Carol Vojtila has ski area pins for sale $2 each, she will donate any sales to the club.
Soup, Stew and Chili Night: February 15,2018 at Indian Hill CC. To Benefit Skiers Unlimited. We can bring in food, but cannot purchase food off the menu that night due to regulations. Cash Bar for drinks. Dennis Tyburski will organize the event.
Club Day: Okemo.Sunday, January 7, 2018. 10am. It’s a Council Awareness Day. Nastar fee is $10. John Hunter has arranged with Okemo and will plan a get together later in the afternoon for drinks and food at The Loft.
Senior Games: February 27,2018 at Sundown. Fun Day. See Carol Sweeney for more information.
On Snow: March 2-4th 2018 at Okemo. See Ron Kapraszewski , need volunteers as we are running the racing on Saturday. This year we will have the clubs send all their registration info on line to us.
Big Sky Trip: March 6-13, 2018.See John Hunter.
CSC : Joe Machowski brought the CSC Newsletter to share, you can also view it on the CSC website.
New Business:
The NSC Constitution changes has been is posted on the website. See Jon Putnam if any questions or concerns.
Bingo is planned for April 19, 2018 Meeting.
Jon asked for input on moving the Golf Tournament to Indian Hill Country Club. There was some discussion and a motion was made and approved to move the Tournament to Indian Hill Country Club.
Killington has a lot of trails open.
December 12, 2017 is the $12 Mt. Snow ski ticket special. Must order online before.
John Paturel gave a Farmington Valley Trail update on the trail progress in Cheshire.
Raffle: Joe Machowski won $11
