NEWINGTON SKI CLUB MINUTES
November 17, 2016

Meeting was called to order by President Jon Putnam at 7:45pm.

Secretary’s Report: Minutes from previous meeting were accepted with corrections. All meeting minutes are on the NSC web site.

Treasurer’s Report: Report accepted.

Membership: 169 Registrations to date, 328. Members would save $10 on membership if signed up before the Open House, but the Website has Nov 15, 2016 as the cutoff date. Can’t be changed now. Motion for next years’ cut-off date of Nov 30, 2017 was passed. Jim Carle will bring paper applications and Jon Putnam will bring an up to date list of members to the Open House.

Bulk Tickets: John Hunter said there is a 2nd buy for Okemo tickets, Dec 1, 2016 is the payment due date. John will put together an order if there is enough interest. Shirley Thomassen has a few extra Mt Snow tickets. Pam Bateman has Jill Bennett’s bulk tickets for the Open House.

Open House:   November 18, 2016,7pm“Mitten Madness.” Rusty Cushman needs help with set-up, so please come early 4:30 or 5pm. Advertisements have been published. Rusty passed around a nice article published in the New Haven paper. Need an easel for raffle prizes. Will try to pre-select the prizes to save time. The club is collecting non-perishable items for the food bank.

Snow Ball: Was a lot of fun. Maybe next year do more decorations in our hospitality suite.

On Snow: March 2-4, 2017 at Loon Mountain, NH. Sign up early for lodging.

Christmas Party: Friday December 9, 2016 See Ted Rogala. $30. 22 signed up to date.

Sugarloaf Ski Trip : March 12, 2017-March 17, 2017, See John Hunter. Need to get payments in if signed up.

Meetings: $80 cost per meeting at the Polish American Club. We may decide to do some of the later meetings in the year at Bertucci’s as there will probably be less members in attendance and no cost to the club. Next Happy Hour is December 29, 2016 at 6:30pm at Bertucci’s in Newington.

NEW BUSINESS: Dec. 8, 2016- Ski Tune Clinic. at Suburban Sports. Will target racers, TOKO rep will also be there. Suburban has a new tuning machine, Marilyn Pearson said it made a noticeable difference to her skis.

Marilyn Pearson has worked on re-filing our tax exempt status. Moving forward the club will need to define officers responsibilities. Cost to re-file is $400.If not done, costly fines could result.

Ted Rogala has business cards to pass out.

Next Meeting: December 1, 2016. PAC.

50/50 Raffle: Carol Sweeney won $7, meeting adjourned at 8:35 pm.
