NEWINGTON SKI CLUB MINUTES

November 1, 2018

Indian Hill Country Club

Meeting called to order by President, Ted Rogala at 7:35 pm.

Secretary’s Report:  Accepted

Treasurer’s Report: Was given by Carol and accepted.

Membership:  Jack Fede reported that we have 177 members, that includes 26 new members.

Upcoming Events:  Ski Sundown Ski Swap 11/2; Boston Ski Expo 11/8; Warren Miller film at the Bushnell 11/17.  (This conflicts with the Snowball).  It is playing at Mohawk November 2 & 3, 2018.  Manchester Road Race is 11/20 with tailgating with Mt Laurel, contact Rusty Cushman for more details.

Pete Noyes Memorial Hike:  November 10, 2018 at Talcott Mountain. Starts at 10 am.  All are welcome to join.  Following the hike we will be tailgating.  Feel free to bring food/snacks, etc. to share.

Open House:  November 15, 2018 at Indian Hill Country Club from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Marilyn and Mike are coordinating and are looking for volunteers to help with such tasks as set up and cleanup, etc.  Reminder that you must be a member before you can pick up your bulk tickets.  Snacks will be provided by Indian Hill.  If you have anything to raffle off, please bring it in.

Snowball:  November 17, 2018 at The Hartford Marriott, Windsor.  Mike Brown is our Ambassador.  Ticket prices are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.  Mike is looking for people to help secure raffle prizes.  We are looking for another club to share hospitality suite with.

Monday Night Racing Pizza Night:  Kick off sign up with free pizza at Mt. Southington on 12/17, time TBD.  December 17, 2018.  Racing begins on January 7, 2018 at Mount Southington.

Christmas/Holiday Party will be January 17, 2019 at Indian Hill Country Club.

Kids Day:  January 27, 2019 at Mount Southington.  Free to all kids on CT Ski Council.  Register by January 11.

Soup, Stew & Chili night will be February 7, 2019 at Indian Hill Country Club.

Club Day:   February 10.  John Hunter planning event at Okemo.

CSC Awareness Days:  Be sure to check the CSC website before heading to Ski areas to confirm awareness day prices.  As it is a preliminary calendar, it may change.

CSC CT Senior Games:  February 26, 2019 at Ski Sundown

On-Snow:  March 1-3, 2019 at Mount Snow.  More info coming soon.

Sugarloaf Trip:    Dates are March 10 -19, 2019.  John needs a $300 deposit now to reserve condos and confirm trip.  Lift tickets are $250 under age 65. 65+ is $200.  One and a half hour group ski lessons included. Contact John for more info.

Miscellaneous:  Manchester Road Race is Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2018.  See Rusty for more details.  Joel stated that Mount Southington is looking for ski instructors.

Tonight’s 50/50 Raffle Winner:  Jon Putnam is the winner $14 !
